The composition result is printed in the report itself: chromium, nickel and molybdenum all inside the 316 range.
EU REACH Annex XVII limits how much nickel jewelry may release onto skin, measured under EN 1811. In our report the nickel release of the tested 316 piece was below the detection limit of the method, and lead and cadmium were well inside the REACH limits. 316 still contains nickel inside the alloy — EN 1811 measures release, which is what the regulation controls. The test was done on an earring, excluding the post; earring posts and other piercing parts were not tested.
316 adds about 2–3% molybdenum to the chromium-nickel base of 304. That is what improves resistance to pitting from sweat, salt water and pool water, and it is why 316 is the grade buyers ask for in jewelry worn every day. In ordinary wear 316 and 304 look the same; the difference shows over time and in harder conditions.
Every 316 style is sold from one piece at the price printed on its page, so a boutique can test a dozen styles before committing. When a style sells, the same SKU is reordered at the same published price steps — 3 pieces and 10 pieces — with no new quotation and no production run to wait for.
A real lab report carries a number, a laboratory, an accreditation and a date that the laboratory itself will confirm. Ours is CTT26090107358EN; open /test-reports, then check the number with CTT. Use the same test on any supplier you compare.
Each product page states the grade and the finish separately — for example 316 stainless steel, gold PVD. Repeat it as written on your own listing. Avoid adding 316L or nickel-free: 316L is a different, low-carbon grade, and 316 contains nickel.

The EU limits nickel release from jewelry under REACH Annex XVII, measured by EN 1811. In our lab report the tested 316 piece released no detectable nickel (below 0.05 µg/cm²/week), and lead and cadmium were within REACH limits. 316 still contains nickel in the alloy; EN 1811 measures what is released onto skin, which is what the regulation controls. The test was done on an earring, excluding the post; earring posts and other piercing parts were not tested.
Uncoated 316 resists tarnish better than silver, but can still dull with wear; the chromium in the steel forms a protective surface layer, and molybdenum helps it resist sweat and salt water. On gold PVD or gold-plated pieces the coating is the layer that wears over time, and how it wears depends on the finish and on how the piece is worn. Each product page states the finish.
