How our stainless-steel jewellery is produced
Production runs on our own dedicated lines with long-term partner factories in the Dongguan and Foshan jewellery clusters of Guangdong.
To show what that means, we took one pair from our ready stock and followed it back through the five steps that made it. Each number on the photo marks the part a step produced.

From steel wire to a finished piece
Cut and shaped
Stainless steel wire, sheet and tube are cut, bent and stamped into hoops, links and stone settings. Sculpted shapes, such as signet rings, are cast instead.

Polished
Edges, ear posts and inner surfaces are ground and polished before any colour goes on. This decides how a piece feels against the skin, and plating only looks as smooth as the steel beneath it.

Coloured
Gold-tone pieces are plated once the steel is polished. Each product page names its finish: gold-plated, PVD where that is how the piece was made, or plain polished steel.

Stones set
Cubic zirconia, crystals and pearl-effect beads go into the finished metal, held in prongs, channels or pavé. The product page names the stone and how it is set.

Assembled
Drops are linked on with jump rings, hinges are fitted and clasps go onto chains. A hinged hoop is finished when its post clicks shut.

What each piece is made of
Every product page lists its metal, finish and stones, and that page is the specification we sell against.
Steel
Pieces listed as 316 are 316 stainless steel. We had our 316 tested by an accredited laboratory for composition, EU nickel release, lead and cadmium, and it passed all four. Pieces listed without a grade are sold as stainless steel.

Gold-plated, PVD or plain polished steel, named on each product. To judge a finish in your hand, start with one piece of each style: US$30–50 usually covers 10 to 15 styles.
Caring for plated jewelleryStones
Cubic zirconia, crystal, enamel or pearl-effect beads. Each product names exactly which, and how the stones are set.
